Trail running is one of my hobbies. Even though I live on the west side of Fort Collins, CO and am near many great trails, I still use my treadmill a lot during training. While they are no replacement for an actual trail, they are a great tool for building fitness. Over the past few years, I developed the habit of taking sections of my races for the year and then mapping sections of these races to treadmill workouts. This is a good way to get a rough idea of how a given section will feel. It’s also a very painstaking process.
